Chris Mack’s coaching staff at Louisville is finalized.
Two of the bench spots come as no surprise, as Luke Murray and Mike Pegues follow Mack from Xavier. Former Wake Forest coach Dino Gaudio rounds out Louisville’s assistant coaching staff.
Gaudio served as a basketball analyst for ESPN for the past eight years, but has 23 years of collegiate coaching experience and has previously worked with Mack.
Gaudio was the coach at Wake Forest from 2007-10, posting a 61-31 record and guiding the Demon Deacons to a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances. He coached at Wake Forest from 2001-10, coaching with Mack from 2001-04.
He was also a coach at Army and Loyola (Md.) University.
“Dino Gaudio is a home run for us,” Mack said in a university release. “He’s trusted, loyal and a person that I have always looked up to in this profession. Not many head coaches have the luxury of having a former head coach in the ACC on staff. Dino’s role on the floor coaching our players will be immense. Our players will benefit in ways that other staffs can’t duplicate. I’m excited to get him out of the studio and on to the basketball court where he belongs.”
Murray has spent the last three seasons with Mack at Xavier, while Pegues coached the last six. Murray has also coached at Rhode Island, Towson, Wagner and Arizona during his 11-year coaching career. Pegues spent two seasons at his alma mater, Delaware, before arriving at Xavier.
