Chris Williams no longer is with the Louisville football team. Now, the reason for the defensive lineman’s dismissal are known.
According to a report from the Louisville Courier-Journal, the former Cardinals defensive lineman was charged with a felony for stealing money from his teammate’s bank accounts. The report cites an arrest citation from the University of Louisville Police, stating that Williams is charged with three counts of theft by deception for having stolen $2,300 from teammates Robbie Bell, Tobias Little and Caleb Tillman.
The incident occurred on April 27. Williams was arrested June 23.
Coach Bobby Petrino told reporters on Monday that Williams had been dismissed from the team.
The 6-foot-1, 292-pound defensive tackle had 29 tackles in 11 games last season, including 5.5 tackles for a loss and one sack after transferring from Northwest Mississippi Junior College.
