Alex Rodriguez is one of the most ardent supporters of the University of Miami.
The former Hurricanes baseball signee, who instead turned pro after becoming the Seattle Mariners’ first-round pick in 1993, still holds the program close to his heart. The baseball stadium on campus bears his name after the 22-year MLB veteran donated nearly $4 million to the university in 2009.
Naturally, with the Hurricanes football team picking up a win over Florida State on Saturday to break a seven-game losing streak to the Seminoles, the current FOX Sports broadcaster felt he had to give them a shout-out on national television.

Hall of Fame pitcher John Smoltz, who also appears in the video, has built a friendship with Hurricanes football coach Mark Richt, dating to when Richt coached at Georgia and Smoltz played for the Atlanta Braves.
The Hurricanes, ranked No. 11 in the latest AP poll released on Sunday, take on Georgia Tech this Saturday at Hard Rock Stadium. Hopefully for Rodriguez and Miami fans everywhere, there will be plenty more to celebrate in 2017.
