Miami guard Bruce Brown became the second Hurricanes player to be taken in the NBA draft on Thursday, as the Detroit Pistons selected him in the second round with the 42nd overall pick.
Brown, a former 5-star recruit out of Vermont Academy, committed to the Hurricanes in November 2015. In his freshman season in 2016-17, he averaged 11.8 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. His rebounding and assist numbers grew a little as a sophomore, registering 7.1 rebounds and 4.0 assists while recording 11.4 points an outing.
But the 2017-18 was his final one as a Hurricane. Brown chose to declare for the NBA draft, hiring an agent and forgoing his final two years of college eligibility as a result.
Brown joins Lonnie Walker IV as the other Miami player to be drafted on Thursday. Walker, a one-and-done, was taken by the Spurs with the 18th pick.
