Football coaches have a strategy for everything in their life. Don’t believe me? Well, Miami Hurricanes coach Mark Richt laid out perfectly clear at ACC Media Days the best way to attacking a sandwich for lunch.

Personally, I switched away from the diagonal sandwich cutting around the same time former Hurricanes coach Randy Shannon fired offensive coordinator Patrick Nix because of “philosophical differences.” A lot less thought goes into cutting a sandwich straight down the middle.
But Richt really does have a convincing argument for his own sandwich eating philosophy. And his passion for it has to be second to none.
Miami hopes that Richt’s passion for football can translate into the Hurricanes becoming a national power again. The Hurricanes went 9-4, including a Russell Athletic Bowl victory, in his first season last fall. Miami will be trying to win 10 games in 2017 for the first time since the program’s final year in the Big East in 2003.
