Lonnie Walker IV is declaring for the 2018 NBA Draft and signing with an agent, the Miami product announced on Wednesday. That means Walker won’t be eligible to return to the Hurricanes regardless of the feedback he receives during the draft process.

Walker is a projected first round pick and has a chance to go in the lottery. He didn’t put up huge numbers in his lone season with the Hurricanes but is a freak athlete with a sweet shooting stroke. Walker averaged 11.5 points and 2.6 rebounds per game.
This was expected for Jim Larranaga and company, but Miami certainly would have welcomed his return. The Hurricanes’ most recent first round pick was Shane Larkin in 2013.
