CORAL GABLES, Fla. — With the dead period just around the corner, Miami recruiting is a priority on the third Saturday of June. The Hurricanes wrapped up camp season with the final Mark Richt Football Camp of the month during the day and lined up an even bigger recruiting event with Miami Nights, an invitation-only dinner for committed players and other top prospects.
The camp brought a good group of talent, too, particularly at quarterback. The Hurricanes got a chance to evaluate some of the nation’s fastest-rising quarterback prospects and even sent out a new offer.
For now, this visitor list includes only players DieHards confirmed were at the camp. More prospects will arrive throughout the afternoon and evening to spend the night in Coral Gables. This post will update as more players make it to campus. For now, these are the players who made it to the Miami metropolitan area Saturday:
S Josh Sanguinetti, 4 stars, NSU University (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.)
Sanguinetti arrived for the afternoon portion of the camp ahead of Miami Nights. A 4-star safety in the 247Sports composite rankings, Sanguinetti is high on Miami, Oklahoma and Stanford.
DE Quashon Fuller, 4 stars, Lehigh Senior (Lehigh Acres, Fla.) Florida State commit
While he didn’t compete in drills, Fuller was the most high-profile prospect at the practice fields Saturday. Fuller spent the day chatting with current players and coaches and watching defensive line coach Jess Simpson work. The Seminoles commit particularly hit it off with offensive quality control analyst David Cooney.
T Jeremy James, 3 stars, North Forsyth (Cumming, Ga.)
WR JaVonta Payton, 3 stars, Northwest Mississippi Community College (Senatobia, Miss.)^ Mississippi commit
WR Zay Flowers, 3 stars, NSU University^
S Brock Jones, 3 stars, Buchanan (Clovis, Calif.)^
TE Dominic Mammarelli, 4 stars, Naples (Fla.)* Class of 2020
Mammarelli is recovering from an injury, so he didn’t compete Saturday. Instead, he spent the day glued to tight ends coach Todd Hartley and tight end Will Mallory. The junior plans to return for Paradise Camp on July 28.
QB Max Johnson, 4 stars, Oconee County (Watkinsville, Ga.) 2020
Johnson is the Hurricanes’ top quarterback target in the 2020 cycle. A 4-star pro-style quarterback in the 247Sports.com rankings, Johnson is coach Mark Richt’s nephew and quarterback coach Jon Richt’s cousin, which has the Miami positioned as the front-runner. This was his third visit since November.
QB Devon Lingle, 3 stars, Duncan U. Fletcher (Neptune Beach, Fla.)^ 2020
QB Carlos Del Rio, unranked, McEachern (Powder Springs, Ga.) 2021
Del Rio was the only player to land an offer from the Hurricanes on Saturday after working out for Jon Richt. The sophomore is the second 2021 quarterback to earn a Miami offer and the first dual-threat quarterback.
