Miami WR Evidence Njoku, brother of David Njoku, sustains season-ending injury

Miami Hurricanes freshman wide receiver Evidence Njoku sustained a right-knee injury at Tuesday’s practice and is out for the season according to a Hurricanes spokesman.

Njoku is the younger brother of David Njoku, who starred as a tight end at Miami before being selected with the 29th pick in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns.

Miami Herald reporter Susan Miller Degnan received confirmation of the news from the spokesman.

“Evidence Njoku sustained a lower-right extremity injury and is out for the season,’’ a UM spokesman told the Miami Herald on Wednesday afternoon.

The Herald states that Miami coach Mark Richt declined comment after practice when asked if Njoku had sustained the injury.

According to the Herald story, CanesInSight.com cites sources believing that “the fear is that Njoku suffered a torn ACL on the same left knee that he hyperextended during fall camp.’’

Njoku hasn’t seen any action this season, and was expected to be redshirted. If Njoku has an ACL injury, it could require many months months that would probably set him back into next season.
