According to ESPN reporter Adam Schefter, the Carolina Panthers are releasing former Miami Hurricanes quarterback Brad Kaaya.

Kaaya was drafted in the sixth round by the Detroit Lions. The Lions signed Kaaya to a four-year/$2.52 million contract before waiving him on Sept. 2.
The Panthers claimed Kaaya off waivers on Sept. 3.
Kaaya had a decorated collegiate career which includes being named ACC Rookie of the Year (2014) and moving into first place on Miami’s all-time passing yards list (9,968). In the Miami record books Kaaya also ranks second in career passing touchdowns (71), second in single-season passing yards (3,532 in 2016) and third in single-season passing touchdowns (27 in 2016).
Kaaya is the son of former actress Angela Means Kaaya, who rose to fame for her role in the 1995 film Friday.
