Miami wide receivers coach Ron Dugans has spurned an offer to take the same position at Florida State and will instead remain with the Hurricanes, according to a text from athletics director Blake James to the Miami Herald’s Susan Miller Degnan.
Dugans, a Tallahassee native and Florida State graduate, began his career as a graduate assistant with FSU before stints with the Bengals, Georgia Southern, Louisville and South Florida under Willie Taggart.
Following Taggart’s hiring as Jimbo Fisher’s replacement at Florida State, there was the possibility of a reunion between him and Dugans. Instead, Dugans has decided to remain where he is with Mark Richt’s staff.
It is big news for the program, which will keep a strong position coach and one of its most valuable recruiters in the fold.
