Freshman Gilbert Frierson, a native of Coral Gables, Fla., intercepted a dangerously thrown pass by N’Kosi Perry into end-zone double coverage at the end of the second quarter.
Frierson was excited to flash the coveted jewelry when he returned to the sideline.

The 6-foot-1, 186-pound Frierson, who was a 4-star prospect, was rated the No. 20 cornerback in the nation, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.
Frierson is the cousin of former Miami star running back Frank Gore.
This was an excellent first impression to the fans at Hard Rock Stadium and hopefully the beginning of Frierson establishing his own legacy at The U.
