North Carolina may have lost one of the gems of its 2018 recruiting class on Monday.
Jordyn Adams, a 4-star wide receiver who Rivals listed as the No. 13 wideout in the country and the No. 72 overall player, was taken with the 17th overall pick by the Los Angeles Angels in the 2018 MLB Draft. The bonus slot for that pick is $3,472,900, meaning Adams will have to turn down a lucrative pro baseball contract if he is to set foot on campus at North Carolina.
Adams was one of the top prospects in the Tar Heels’ class. As if his football and baseball prowess weren’t enough, he became a YouTube sensation on the basketball court in the fall of 2016.
Adams was listed by MLB.com as the 37th overall pick. The Angels are likely banking hard on his athletic upside. The Tar Heels still have 4-star wideout Dyami Brown, as well as 3-star Antoine Green inked to the Class of 2018.
