North Carolina basketball guard Kenny Williams is expected to be ready come the preseason following July 7 surgery on his right knee, the school announced Tuesday.
It is the second procedure for Williams, who had surgery on Feb. 21 after tearing his meniscus in his right knee — an injury suffered in mid-February in practice. According to a report from InsideCarolina on Tuesday, the second knee injury was suffered on July 3.
Williams averaged 6.2 points and 3.3 rebounds in 26 games last season. He started 22 games before suffering the injury in mid-February. He missed the remainder of his sophomore season following the injury, during which time North Carolina went on to win the national title against Gonzaga in Glendale, Ariz.
