Former North Carolina basketball guard Marcus Paige is back in the state of North Carolina playing basketball.
According to multiple reports Tuesday, Paige signed a two-way deal with the Charlotte Hornets.
The new NBA two-way deal structure allows a player to play either with the NBA team or its NBA G-League affiliate. In the case of the Hornets, their G-League team plays in Greensboro, N.C.
The 6-foot-1, 175-pound Paige averaged 13.1 points and 4.3 assists per game in his four-year career at North Carolina. He finished with a dramatic game-tying 3-pointer against Villanova in the national championship game.
Paige was selected No. 55 overall by the Brooklyn Nets in the 2016 NBA draft. He was then traded to the Utah Jazz and wound up playing in the G-League with the Jazz’s affiliate. Paige averaged 12.2 points and 2.2 assists per game last season.
