Read his daily notebooks here at 7 p.m. ET Sunday through Thursday. In this edition, we discuss the timeline for the next recruiting development for 5-star small forward Wendell Moore.
Wendell Moore expects visits, short list in coming months
It might seem like an eternity, but it wasn’t all that long ago that it seemed almost certain that 5-star 2019 small forward Wendell Moore would join his Cox Mill High School (Concord, N.C.) teammate Rechon Black at North Carolina.
The timetable slowed after Duke got involved in October, but North Carolina has kept up with Moore, who is the No. 5 small forward and No. 24 overall player in the Class of 2019, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.
The Tar Heels last visited Moore in Concord, N.C., in February and watched him play in Indianapolis last weekend.
With the spring evaluation periods over, the only recruiting coaches can do until July must take place on campus during prospect visits, and Moore seems a likely visitor at some point.
Moore plans on taking visits between now and the Peach Jam in July, he told Rivals’ Corey Evans recently. Those visits likely will be unofficial in nature, since Moore said he wants to save his five official visits for September.
In the meantime, Moore said he hopes to trim his list of 10 schools to five or six, according to Evans. That list is all but guaranteed to include North Carolina and Duke. Wake Forest is probably a good bet, too.
Tar Heels offer 3-star tight end
With all of the basketball news over the last couple of weeks, some of the football offers have been pushed aside.
But rest assured, the Tar Heels staff has been hard at work. One of its most recent 2019 offers went to 3-star Chandler, Ariz., tight end Brayden Liebrock last Tuesday.

Liebrock is one of the best tight ends in the class, ranking 13th at his position and 383rd overall nationally among Class of 2019 prospects. 247Sports grades Liebrock as a 4-star prospect.
Some of his 23 offers are from blue-blood programs that include Texas, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Alabama and Michigan.
It seems unlikely that North Carolina will gain traction in this recruitment. Liebrock already has taken two of his five official visits, one to Arizona State at the end of April and one over the weekend to Texas. There is a small chance he could have some room in his recruitment since most of the elite programs recruiting him offered in late March.
During his junior season at Chandler High School, Liebrock finished third on the team with 39 catches for 600 yards. He was tied for third with 5 touchdown grabs.
