In this edition, we discuss the next steps in the recruitment of Kentucky transfer Sacha Killeya-Jones, who has started scheduling visits.

Sacha Killeya-Jones scheduling visits

North Carolina appears to be done with its Class of 2018 after missing on 5-star power forward Jordan Brown’s top three last week, but there’s still a chance it could bring another player to campus in 2018.

The Tar Heels have been in on Kentucky transfer Sacha Killeya-Jones, a Chapel Hill native, since he announced his transfer from the Wildcats in April. North Carolina cracked Killeya-Jones’ top 10, but there hasn’t been much else happening on that front since then.

That changed Tuesday when ESPN’s Jeff Borzello reported Killeya-Jones has begun setting visits. According to his former high school coach Fred Cannon, Killeya-Jones was at N.C. State Tuesday and Wednesday and will be at Pittsburgh over the weekend. He also has a visit slated for Memorial Day weekend with Wake Forest.

While North Carolina isn’t among the list of schools with a visit set yet, it sounds like one is likely to come. Borzello also reported that North Carolina has “been in consistent contact” with Killeya-Jones.

A visit may not be as important for North Carolina as it is for other schools. Not only does his mom work at the school, but also the Tar Heels recruited him in 2016 when he was the No. 7 power forward and No. 23 overall player before he committed to Kentucky.

Tar Heels offer elite 2020 linebacker

The North Carolina staff has put a lot of effort into recruiting the Class of 2020 of late, and that’s continued over the last week.

Last Wednesday, the Tar Heels extended another offer to a top 2020 prospect, this time it was 4-star outside linebacker Jaylen Harrell (Berkeley Prep, Tampa, Fla.).

Harrell is considered among the best players at his position in the 2020 class, ranking as the No. 7 outside linebacker and No. 111 overall player in his class according to 247Sports.

Harrell has already received double-digit offers, including several blue-blood programs. Among his 11 offers are Clemson, Florida State, Michigan, Ohio State and Oklahoma. Alabama and Florida are involved but haven’t offered.

While the Tar Heels have offered around 70 prospects in the Class of 2020, Harrell is only the fifth outside linebacker. Of that group, only 5-star prospects Mekhail Sherman (St. John’s College HS, Washington, DC) and Kalel Mullings (Milton Academy, Boston) rank higher.
