Read his daily notebooks here at 7 p.m. ET Sunday through Thursday. In this edition, we discuss 5-star center Will Baker, who indicated that he could cut his list of schools in the next several weeks.

June should be a pretty busy month on the basketball recruiting trail.

Sandwiched between the April and July evaluation periods, June is prime time for many recruits to start making cuts to their lists and to take visits before school rolls around again in August.

North Carolina probably will have a little bit of a lull for at least a week because so many of its targets will be in Canada with Team USA, but the weeks following the team’s return after June 16 should be active.

At least one of those prospects, 5-star center Will Baker, has indicated that time frame could see some movement in his recruiting. The Austin, Texas, native said in an interview with Rivals’ Corey Evans that he expects to narrow his list of schools after the FIBA Americas U18 Championship].

Baker, the No. 5 center and No. 16 overall player in the Class of 2019, did not indicate just how far he plans to cut things down. Kansas, North Carolina, Stanford, Texas, Texas A&M, UCLA and Virginia have been the primary schools in Baker’s recruitment. A top-5 list would give an idea of where Baker plans on taking his official visits.

Regardless, Tar Heels fans shouldn’t be that worried. North Carolina has been a consistent presence with Baker, and Roy Williams has been heavily involved in the process with Baker and made a couple of trips to see him in Texas earlier this year. North Carolina and Texas are nearly shoo-ins with any list Baker puts out. UCLA and Kansas are also likely to be in the list. The Bruins are tied with North Carolina in Baker’s 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions.

My best guess is that if Baker goes down to a top-5 list, it’ll be those four and Texas A&M, but don’t write off Stanford yet, either.

Savion Jackson set to announcement commitment Wednesday

North Carolina football should learn its fate with one of its top uncommitted targets next week.

According to his Twitter account, 4-star strongside defensive end Savion Jackson will announce his commitment on Wednesday. Jackson also announced the five schools he is considering: N.C. State, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia Tech and Clemson.

Jackson is the No. 3 strongside defensive end and No. 45 overall prospect in the Class of 2019. South Carolina is the favorite to land the Clayton, N.C., product and is the only school to have received an official visit.

That isn’t necessarily a bad thing for the Tar Heels. Because of proximity, he also visited North Carolina and N.C. State around the same time, but did so unofficially.

A Clemson commitment would be a long shot, considering that the Tigers only offered him in late April.

N.C. State probably is South Carolina’s biggest challenger. From March 29 to April 7, Jackson visited the Wolfpack three times. It also is the last school that he visited.
