The Tar Heels class isn’t the biggest, but it contains several high-profile prospects, including three 4-star players from the state of North Carolina.
One of those is offensive guard Avery Jones. Jones, rated the 13th-best guard in the country by 247sports, hails from Havelock, North Carolina, on the state’s coastline.
Jones is now officially committed and signed his letter of intent on Wednesday.

Jones committed to North Carolina in March, choosing the Tar Heels over Duke, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech and in-state rival N.C. State, among others.
Here is everything you need to know about Jones.
How Avery Jones fits at North Carolina
For the most part, it’s difficult to predict exactly how North Carolina’s depth chart will shape up in 2018 because seemingly every player was forced into action this year due to injury. But Jones figures to be an obvious contender for early playing time. Three of the Tar Heels’ top four guards on the team’s initial depth chart, prior to its season-opener against California, have since exhausted their eligibility. Considered an excellent athlete for his size, it might not be crazy to believe Jones could be the starter the next time North Carolina takes the field.
