Former North Carolina baseball standout J.B. Bukauskas has signed with the Houston Astros, according to MLBpipeline.com’s Jim Callis on Thursday.
Bukauskas was this season’s Atlantic Coast Conference pitcher of the year before being taken with the 15th overall selection. He will reportedly receive $3.6 million or $11,800 more than the slot value of the 15th pick.
In his junior season at UNC, Bukauskas went 9-1 with a 2.53 ERA in 15 starts. He struck out 116 strikeouts to only 37 walks in 92.2 innings.
The deadline for MLB teams to sign their draft picks is 5 p.m. Friday.
