Tar Heels crack top 10 for 5-star small forward Keion Brooks

There haven’t been many prospects who have done more for their recruiting stock than 5-star small forward Keion Brooks this spring.

Brooks’ strong performance on the AAU circuit earned him a number of offers, including one from North Carolina. Now he’s starting to cut things down, and it looks as if the Tar Heels will get the chance to continue their recruitment.

On Sunday night, Brooks announced his top 10 schools, which included the Tar Heels along with Michigan, Indiana, Michigan State, UCLA, Texas, Georgetown, Iowa, Kentucky and Purdue.

Brooks ranks as the No. 5 small forward and No. 23 overall prospect in the Class of 2019.

Indiana, the in-state school for the Fort Wayne, Ind., native, appears to be among the leaders for Brooks. Michigan State is the perceived favorite, according to predictions on the 247Sports Crystal Ball.

Brooks, who just missed out on a trip to Canada with Team USA this month, has yet to take a visit to North Carolina, but it’s possible one could come later this month or in the fall.

Brooks is among the handful of front-court players on North Carolina’s radar. His inclusion of North Carolina as well as Texas, which also offered him in early May, indicates his openness to his options.

Tar Heels offer Georgia corner

North Carolina football has had several prospects on campus over the last week for various camps, but one of its most recent offers was on Clemson’s campus instead.

On Wednesday, the Tar Heels offered 3-star Class of 2020 Buford, Ga., cornerback Jalen Huff while he was at a Clemson camp.

Huff ranks as the No. 21 corner and No. 317 in the class, according to 247Sports.

Although he’s only completed two years of high school, he’s already compiled quite the offer list. His 17 offers include Arizona State, Louisville, Oklahoma, Ole Miss and Oregon.

In addition to the Clemson camp, Huff also camped at South Carolina last week. The Gamecocks have two predictions to land Huff in the 247Sports Crystal Ball.

North Carolina has offered six cornerbacks in the Class of 2020, including Huff. Three others are from Georgia, including 4-star Alabama commit Javier Morton and unrated corner Isaiah Dunson.

The Tar Heels have no players committed in their Class of 2020.
