Roy Williams visits 5-star SF Nassir Little

If 5-star small forward Nassir Little isn’t at the top of Roy Williams’ basketball recruiting board for the Class of 2018, he’s close to it.

With a limited number of remaining scholarships in the class, Williams has to proceed carefully regarding his next class, and it’s no wonder that Little, the No. 4 small forward and No. 12 overall player in the class is a high priority.

The Orlando, Fla. native made his first visit to Chapel Hill earlier this month to take in the Tar Heels’ football loss to Louisville as the 2017 national championship team was honored.

This week, Williams decided to re-emphasize Little’s importance to his program by paying him a visit with the quiet period ending and recruiting period beginning Sept. 9, according to 247Sports. This is the latest of several in-home visits made by Williams over the last two weeks, with nearly all of them focusing on the Tar Heels’ highest-priority targets.

The good news for North Carolina is the Tar Heels are the perceived leader for Little. The 6-foot-7 forward is down to five schools — North Carolina, Arizona, Georgia Tech, Miami and Duke. Each of those schools has or will receive an official visit from Little before he makes his decision.

So far, Little has made two trips: Georgia Tech (Aug. 26) and North Carolina (Sept. 8). Between now and November, Little will make trips to Miami on Sept. 29, Arizona on Oct. 26 and Duke on Nov. 10.

Tar Heels offer 2019 TE Larry Hodges, CB Kaiir Elam

Things have been mostly quiet on the football recruiting front outside of campus visitors with two straight home games kicking off the season.

However, Larry Fedora and his staff have been trickling out a few 2019 offers over the last couple months. On Monday, they added another one to 3-star Tampa, Fla. tight end Larry Hodges.

Hodges ranks as the No. 12 tight end and No. 401 overall player in the Class of 2019.

He’s made out well in the recruiting process, pulling in seven offers from schools such as Miami, Virginia Tech, Kentucky and Louisville.

North Carolina added another offer to the mix Wednesday to 4-star North Palm Beach, Fla. cornerback Kaiir Elam.

Elam is one of the top players in the Class of 2019, ranking as the No. 5 cornerback and No. 82 overall player.

Elam has 24 offers including two of the three major in-state schools — Florida and Miami — as well as Georgia, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Michigan.

While it would be nice if Elam ended up in Chapel Hill, this is shaping up to be an in-state battle between the Gators and Hurricanes.

Elam camped at Miami over the summer and has been to Florida several times, most recently this past weekend for the Gators’ matchup against Tennessee. He’ll be visiting Florida State this weekend, as well, according to 247Sports’ Chriss Nee.
