The Associated Press released its way-too-early 2018-19 college basketball rankings on Sunday and ranks North Carolina fifth, despite losing key seniors Joel Berry and Theo Pinson.
Here is the blurb on the Tar Heels:
“The losses of Joel Berry and Theo Pinson will be tough. The addition of 5-star freshman Nassir Little as part of UNC’s best recruiting class in years with Luke Maye, Cameron Johnson and Kenny Williams will keep the Tar Heels among the elite.”
North Carolina is behind Kentucky, Villanova, Duke and Kansas in the rankings. Duke-North Carolina games are always fun, and 2019 will be no exception.
The Tar Heels have point guard questions to figure out, but the front court is stacked. The Tar Heels likely will be more talented than they were in 2017-18. Roy Williams has a chance to reach his third Final Four in four years.
