Roy Williams visits 5-star PF/C Armando Bacot again
It looks like things are heating up between North Carolina and one of its top targets in the Class of 2019, 5-star power forward/center Armando Bacot.
On Wednesday, Tar Heels coach Roy Williams headed to Richmond, Va., to see Bacot, according to Rivals’ Corey Evans.

If this sounds familiar, that is probably because it’s been a common occurrence during the last several months, with either Williams visiting Bacot or Bacot trekking to Chapel Hill.
In the last three weeks, this is the third interaction between Bacot and the Tar Heels. He visited for the Duke game on Feb. 8 and was also in town on Jan. 27 for the N.C. State game. Williams also went to see him in mid-December during the Richmond Times-Dispatch’s Christmas basketball tournament.
Bacot ranks as the No. 7 center and No. 20 overall player by 247Sports composite rankings, and he is probably the 2019 prospect that the Tar Heels staff has interacted with the most especially in the last several months as recruiting for the Class of 2018 wound down.
While North Carolina is on great terms with the 6-foot-10 junior, it still is going to be a fight to beat out Duke, the team believed to be the early favorite and a team that has seemingly all the recruiting momentum in the world.
Bacot already has narrowed his list of 36 offers to a top 11, and we can expect that number to go down to five sometime in the next calendar year. At this point, it would be surprising for the Tar Heels not to make that list, and then it’s just a matter of how North Carolina can use the likely official visit to try to seal the deal.
Getting caught up on football’s offers
The last month and a half has been devoted to basketball and Class of 2018 football recruiting as National Signing Day came and went.
But behind the scenes, North Carolina coach Larry Fedora and his staff quietly were shaping their Class of 2019 recruiting board with a slew of offers. While we won’t go back and rehash every offer since early January, this space will be dedicated a few times during the next few weeks to discussing some of the important recent offers that have slipped through the cracks.
At some point, we’ll also do a more comprehensive position-by-position look at North Carolina’s recruiting board, but in the meantime, here are a few offers:
Josh Henderson, 3-star RB, Princeton, N.J.
Josh Henderson received his offer from North Carolina on Feb. 6, according to his Twitter account.

The 3-star running back ranks as the No. 5o player at his position in the junior class, according to 247Sports.
He’s already up to 13 offers including Boston College, Nebraska, Purdue and West Virginia. He’s also drawn looks from N.C. State and Virginia Tech, but so far those have not resulted in offers. He attended Rutgers’ junior day in January.
Isaiah Kemp, unrated CB, Wilmington, N.C.
Isaiah Kemp picked up his offer on Feb. 7.

Although he hasn’t been evaluated by any of the major recruiting services, Kemp already has drawn some interest with offers from Duke, Wake Forest and East Carolina. He also has been scouted by Clemson, Florida, Louisville and Virginia Tech.
