Roy Williams visits 5-star center Will Baker
There are only a few more live recruiting days on the 2017-18 recruiting calendar, and Roy Williams seems determined to make the most of them.
Last week, Williams visited 5-star power forward Matthew Hurt. On Monday, Williams was expected to be the second of four college coaches to trek to Austin, Texas, this week to see 5-star center Will Baker, according to ESPN’s Adam Finkelstein. Texas’ Shaka Smart visited Sunday and Williams will be followed by Texas A&M and UCLA on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.

The visit likely will be one of the last Williams makes before the quiet period begins on Thursday. Once a quiet period begins, coaches are limited in the off-campus contact they can have with recruits to evaluation periods.
Baker is rated as the No. 5 center and No. 16 overall player in the Class of 2019. The visit will be the second to Baker in the last few weeks.
Tar Heels offer 3-star TE Kamari Morales
North Carolina has worked the Class of 2019 tight end market aggressively but is still looking for a commitment.
On Tuesday, another player was added to that recruiting board when the Tar Heels offered 3-star Tallahassee, Fla., tight end Kamari Morales.

Morales is the No. 34 tight end in the Class of 2019. North Carolina is his 11th offer, and his suitors include Ole Miss, Kentucky, Maryland and Temple.
Morales is a former South Florida commit who severed ties with the Bulls at the end of March. He is believed to be leaning toward Ole Miss, which he visited earlier this month.
Football hands first offer to in-state running back
As North Carolina continues to work on its Class of 2020 recruiting board, the staff has identified several offer-worthy in-state prospects. The latest on that list is Charlotte running back Trenton Simpson.

The offer was the first for the Mallard Creek High School prospect. He’s visited Wake Forest and Virginia Tech over the last month and also has seen interest from N.C. State.
Simpson’s offer was the 10th made by the Tar Heels to an in-state prospect.
While he isn’t rated by any of the major recruiting outlets, the Class of 2020 evaluations are still underway and only eight prospects are rated nationally in North Carolina by the 247Sports’ composite rankings.
