David Shaw: Bryce Love’s health ‘not as good as we’d like it to be’
Notre Dame is known for its excellent ground game, but Stanford has a great running back of its own. That would be Bryce Love, who’s run for 1,723 yards and 16 touchdowns this season. He’s averaging a whopping 8.8 yards per carry.
But Love is dealing with two ankle injuries. He’s been battling a right ankle sprain for weeks, and in his last game against California, he missed time to get his left ankle re-taped. Asked about Love on Tuesday, just four days from the Fighting Irish’s battle with the Cardinal, Stanford coach David Shaw seemed fairly pessimistic.
Bryce Love is Day to Day per DS.

Love has run for more than 100 yards in all but one game this season, but his production has been modest (by his standards) in his last three games. Love is averaging 5.6 yards per carry in that span – still very good, but not on par with his early-season dominance.
We’ll keep an eye on his status throughout the week.
