The Notre Dame Fighting Irish received their third commitment in as many days in the Class of 2019, with New Jersey defensive end Howard Cross III announcing his pledge on Sunday morning.
Cross published a statement declaring his commitment to the Irish on his Twitter account. In it, he thanked his coaches at St. Joseph’s, teachers, classmates and his family along with Brian Kelly and his coaching staff.
Ranked as a 4-star in the 247Sports composite rankings, Cross chose Notre Dame over 14 other schools that offered, including Virginia Tech, Duke, Michigan and Tennessee. He is listed as the No. 246 player in the nation, No. 19 strong-side defensive end and the No. 5 player in the State of New Jersey.
Cross joins fellow New Jersey native John Olmstead as a Notre Dame commitment. Olmstead announced his commitment on Friday.
The Irish now have six commitments in the Class of 2019. All six of those commitments are ranked as 4-stars in the 247Sports composite rankings and they now boast the 22nd-ranked recruiting class in the nation.
Virginia safety Litchfield Ajavon was the third member of the Class of 2019 to announce his commitment this weekend, making his pledge on Saturday shortly after the Blue-Gold Game.
