The Notre Dame men’s basketball team added another impressive piece to its 2018 recruiting class in 4-star shooting guard Dane Goodwin, who committed to the Fighting Irish on Wednesday.

The 6-foot-4, 187-pound Columbus native is the fourth-best prospect from Ohio in the 2018 recruiting class according to the 247Sports composite rankings.
With Goodwin committed, Notre Dame now has three 4-star players — Prentiss Hubb (Washington) and Robby Carmody (Mars, Pa) the other two — signed up in the 2018 recruiting class, all shooting guards. While that seems like an excess of players at one position, the Fighting Irish haven’t landed any shooting guards in recruiting the last two years. In that regard, going heavy at shooting guard makes sense.
There’s still a long way to go until National Signing Day, but with the addition of Goodwin, Notre Dame moves up to the top ACC spot according to the 247Sports composite rankings for the 2018 recruiting class. Notre Dame was ranked third in the conference prior to Wednesday and jumped Louisville and North Carolina with Goodwin.
