One of the top cornerbacks in the country has trimmed his list of finalists, and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish are among the teams that remain in the hunt.
Washington, D.C. area product Salim Turner-Muhammad, a 4-star prospect from Alexandria (Va.) Episcopal, unveiled his top five on his Twitter account on Tuesday evening. The Fighting Irish join Stanford, Michigan, Wisconsin and Boston College on the list.
I would like to convey my appreciation to all of the outstanding institutions who have recruited me. However, I will be announcing my commitment to one of these five prestigious universities soon!!! #GoIrish ☘️ #FearTheTree 🌲 #GoBlue 〽️ #OnWisconsin 🔴⚪️ #DecideToFly 🦅 pic.twitter.com/KMybFX48ye

According to 247Sports’ composite rankings, Turner-Muhammad is the No. 20 cornerback in the class of 2019 and the No. 5 player in Virginia. He has been offered by a total of 14 schools thus far.
Turner-Muhammad was on the Notre Dame campus on an unofficial visit in March for Junior Day. He left impressed with what he saw, especially with the facilities.
“I saw a beautiful campus filled with buildings built to sustain the campus’ tradition,” he told 247Sports’ Tom Loy after his visit. “New state of the art football facilities and an incredible football stadium that holds 80,000-plus.”
He also met with coach Brian Kelly, telling Loy that Kelly was “impressed” with both his athletic ability and work in the classroom.
“I asked (him) many questions that I felt were essential for me in understanding, as they are all factors of my decision,” Turner-Muhammad said. “He was impressed with the level of these questions as well. It was a great conversation for my family and myself to have.”
