Oklahoma State will be visited by 2019 4-star quarterback Grant Gunnell this spring.
The Houston (Texas) St. Pius X prospect will be in Stillwater for the Cowboys’ spring game on April 28, according to 247Sports’ Steve Wiltfong. By that point, he is scheduled to have also visited Cal and Arizona. He took visits to USC and UCLA this week and inspected Oregon, LSU and Ohio State recently as well.
Gunnell is the No. 2 pro-style quarterback and the No. 53 overall prospect in the country for 2019, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. The Cowboys are currently tied with Ohio State as the favorite in 247Sports’ crystal ball predictions for where he will commit.
Gunnell would be the second blue-chip quarterback in a row to land with Oklahoma State if he chooses the Cowboys. Oklahoma State signed 4-star Spencer Sanders, the reigning Texas High School Player of the Year, in December.
At the spring game, Gunnell will get an up-close look at the Cowboys’ current quarterback competition between Tyler Cornelius and Keondre Wudtee. Those two passers are expected to battle Hawaii graduate transfer Dru Brown and Sanders for the starting role in preseason practices this fall.
The Oklahoma State spring game will kick off at 1 p.m. CT on Saturday, April 28.
