Mike Gundy doesn’t know if the Wildcat formation will stick for the OSU offense
According to Mark Cooper of the Tulsa World, Mike Gundy doesn’t know if the Wildcat formation Oklahoma State used sparingly against Baylor will be utilized much more often.
When asked about the formation, Gundy said, “I don’t know if it’s a long-term answer depending on who we play.”
Cooper also reports that Gundy said the package was added because of red zone difficulties against Texas Tech.
The Wildcat is a minor wrinkle for Oklahoma State, and frankly one that isn’t at all surprising. Lots of teams have a package like this, or have gone to it at some point.
It does bring up a question about the health of Oklahoma State’s offensive line. Adding another blocker into the mix obviously helped the Cowboys on short distances, so if Oklahoma State can’t get healthy across the line, it’s a formation you might see a lot more of.
