The Oklahoma State men’s basketball team is adding a forward for 2018 in Rice transfer Austin Meyer, according to Zach Lancaster of GoPokes.com.
Meyer announced his decision to transfer in April. He’s listed at 6-foot-9, 235 pounds, according to Rice athletics.
In his sophomore year, Meyer averaged 4.4 points and 2.2 rebounds, including a career-high 14 points against St. Thomas. He started 10 games as a freshman and four in 2017-18.
Oklahoma State can use Meyer’s length at the forward position. He’s not a stretch forward — he has yet to attempt a 3-pointer in his career — but can bang bodies down low. Only one returning player —7-footer Lucas N’Guessan — is taller than Meyer as post player Yankuba Sima decided to pursue professional opportunities.
