Oklahoma State football fans have lost respect for Mike Gundy’s mullet after the Cowboys’ loss to TCU.
After the Cowboys were upset at home by the Horned Frogs on Saturday, Oklahoma State fans took to Twitter and message boards to tell Gundy to get rid of his iconic hairstyle. While the mullet brought the Cowboys some great publicity, many fans thought this loss should be the end of an era.
From the Orange Power message board:
“Okay. We get it. The Mullet took started as a joke, then took on a life of it’s own.
That’s great marketing — when you’re undefeated and riding the crest of a popularity wave.
But now you’ve gotten you a** kicked on national tv. You were beotch-slapped by a better game day coach that took you and your team to the woodshed.
“The score was closer, but the game was a disaster.
“So, it’s time to take a new focus — one on the team not on your current media popular hairstyle.
“Trim the mullet. Put the attention on improving the defense instead of your hair and lifestyle. The public loves it when you’re winning, but when you’re losing — it doesn’t care.
“It was fun while it lasted, but now it’s time to cut the damn thing.”
That fan isn’t alone in that opinion. Plenty of fans think Gundy should trim the mullet. Some even think he should get rid of it entirely.

The irony is that Gundy’s mullet was just immortalized at Eskimo Joe’s. If he cuts it off, the local hot spot may have to redecorate again.
Oklahoma State — and the mullet — will get a chance to bounce back this week at Texas Tech. That game kicks off at 7 p.m. CT on FOX.
