Oklahoma State offers unheralded 2019 QB; men’s basketball to face Houston

Cowboys offer under-the-radar QB

Oklahoma State football’s quarterback hunt for its 2019 class continues.

The Cowboys seem to be out of the running in the Grant Gunnell sweepstakes. The program offered San Clemente (Calif.) dual-threat quarterback Brendan Costello, however, on Tuesday.

The 6-foot-1, 185-pound Costello is a 3-star prospect, according to 247Sports. He boasts myriad offers from smaller programs, but 247Sports suggests UCLA has some interest in the quarterback.

Oklahoma State doesn’t have a strong California recruiting pipeline. Costello doesn’t have a better offer than the Pokes, however, at this point in his recruitment.

Things can certainly change for the dual-threat prospect, and the same goes for the Cowboys.

Coach Mike Gundy shouldn’t be desperate for a quarterback this cycle, but Costello, as well as Buford (Ga.) Lanier quarterback Zach Calzada, are names to watch for the Pokes.

Oklahoma State hoops to face Houston

Oklahoma State men’s basketball officially announced a home-and-home series with Houston on Tuesday.

The Cowboys and Cougars will meet on Dec. 8 at Gallagher-Iba Arena and play at Houston’s Fertitta Center in 2019.

Oklahoma State leads the all-time series with Houston 12-7 and the Cowboys have never lost to the Cougars in Stillwater, Okla.

The game will pit second-year coach Mike Boynton against veteran coach Kelvin Sampson, who’s entering his fifth season with the Cougars.
