Cowboys’ 2019 class adds Jayden Jernigan

Oklahoma State’s recruiting momentum from last week carried over into Monday with another 2019 commitment.

Allen (Texas) defensive tackle Jayden Jernigan, a 247Sports composite 3-star prospect, announced his verbal pledge to the Cowboys on Monday.

The 6-foot-1, 280-pound Jernigan provides the Cowboys with another defensive tackle option after Cedar Hill (Texas) standout Xavier Ross committed to Oklahoma State on Saturday.

Both Jernigan and Ross visited Stillwater, Okla., on April 28. The two defensive tackles were the only players on official visits that weekend, and coach Mike Gundy scored them both.

Oklahoma State’s 2019 recruiting saw a long drought after Muenster (Texas) defensive end Kody Walterscheid chose the Cowboys on March 9. The Cowboys have landed three commitments since May 9, however, starting with 3-star defensive end Isreal Isuman-Hundley.

Now with seven commitments, Oklahoma State’s 2019 class ranks No. 32 in the nation per the 247Sports composite, No. 6 in the Big 12.

Men’s golf off to hot start

Oklahoma State men’s golf leads the NCAA Columbus Regional field following Day 1. The Cowboys opened with a 3-under-par team score of 281 on Monday. UNLV and Illinois trail the Pokes with team scores of 282 and 284, respectively.

Four of the top nine Round 1 individual performances came from Oklahoma State golfers, as well. Austin Eckroat, Kristoffer Ventura and Matthew Wolff each shot a 1-under par 70 to tie for third on the individual leaderboard. Zach Bauchou wasn’t far behind, shooting an even-par 71.
