Baker Mayfield has never been one to forget a rivalry, especially one of college football’s most storied rivalries.
In a parting message to Oklahoma fans, Mayfield apologized for the similarities between the colors of the Browns and the Texas Longhorns, saying, “I love you guys, I appreciate your support. I’m sorry you now have to wear orange but we’re all going to go through it together because we’re a part of the Dawg Pound now.”
The No. 1 pick in the #NFLDraft

Mayfield was 2-1 in the Red River Showdown, his sole loss coming in 2015 by a score of 24-17. The loss was one of only two the Sooners suffered that year. Their other one came against the Clemson Tigers, who defeated Oklahoma in the College Football Playoff semifinals.
Historically, Mayfield played close games against the Longhorns. All three of the games he started in the rivalry were decided by a touchdown or less.
The Sooners will have to figure out life after Mayfield in the fall, but for now, they can celebrate Mayfield and his No. 1 overall draft pick.
