Baker Mayfield has more in common with Brett Favre than just being a slightly-undersized quarterback.
Both featured rocket arms coming out of college. Both were mobile, although just slightly short of being classified as dual-threat. And both featured outsized personalities that endeared them to fans.
Favre didn’t attend the 1991 NFL Draft, when he was selected by the Atlanta Falcons in the second round. (There’s your answer to a bar trivia question one day — “What team was Brett Favre drafted by?”) The photo of Favre answering the call from the Falcons has entered NFL legend.
Mayfield won’t be in attendance Thursday for the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft, where he’s expected to be a top pick, and perhaps the first player off the board. That led him to recreating Favre’s picture to breathtaking accuracy.
Take a good look:
“There are those people who are in your corner no matter what, you can’t do any wrong, even when you do wrong. And then there are those people that no matter what you do they’re going to dislike you and that’s not going to change.” – Brett Favre #DraftEve #MMO pic.twitter.com/6bCE9SxqI6

Right down to the wood paneling on the walls and the Sharpied T-shirts, Mayfield nailed it. All he’s missing is a rolled-up cuff on the jorts.
Favre put up record-setting numbers in the NFL. Mayfield did the same at Oklahoma. If Mayfield can produce like Favre did for an NFL team, his draft day photo may become as iconic as the former Packers great.
