Oklahoma’s end zones will look a little different on Saturday.
Oklahoma’s athletics department officially announced new marks for its programs on Friday.
The university has slowly rolled out the new font, called “Sooner Born,” in its athletic facilities, but full changes are coming soon. Although, not all changes to uniforms and facilities will take place immediately.
The brand refresh coincides with Oklahoma’s move to Jordan Brand for its football and basketball programs.
“Our trademarks are iconic,” Oklahoma athletics director Joe Castiglione said in a statement. “We respect tradition and have historically protected it while still finding ways to grow our brand. We were able to do some confidential reviews with coaches, student-athletes and other University stakeholders and we were overwhelmed with positive responses.
“Over the years, OU’s marks and look have been updated from time to time. This is a rare opportunity to tweak and refresh in line with feedback we have received in that process.”
The change is subtle, but Oklahoma’s efforts to refresh its main font is in partnership with Nike’s Graphic Identity Group, or GIG.
GIG has helped several schools across the country update their fonts, which includes letters and numbers. Oklahoma’s football uniforms should get an update with the new font and Jordan Brand logo.

A popular Oklahoma fan Twitter account, @SoonerTracker, gave a better idea of how it’ll change the Sooners’ look on game day.

If OU does indeed change the wordmark on the jerseys, it won't be the first time. The current Sooners wordmark Sooners wordmark has only been around since 1996. pic.twitter.com/5PF01Ks4lb

Fans can purchase merchandise with the new marks beginning in May, according to a release. A more extensive apparael selection of the refreshed branding, however, won’t be available until July.
Oklahoma fans can see some of the new branding at the Sooners spring game on Saturday. The game kicks off at 2:15 p.m. ET.
