Green, who is the No. 2 tackle and No. 12 overall player in the 247Sports 2019 composite ranking, isn’t a stranger to Oklahoma. He was an unofficial visitor this past season for the Sooners’ game against Texas Tech.
Oklahoma sent out an offer to Green following his sophomore season. He was once an LSU commit but re-opened his recruitment in December.
With Green making the trip, seven of the top 20 2019 prospects in Texas plan to attend the junior day event.
- No. 1 5-star OT Kenyon Green, Humble, Texas
- No. 3 4-star WR Theo Wease, Allen, Texas
- No. 5 4-star OT Tyler Johnson, Conroe, Texas
- No. 10 4-star WR Garrett Wilson, Austin, Texas
- No. 14 4-star DE Marcus Stripling, Katy, Texas
- No. 19 4-star WR Trejan Bridges, Carrollton, Texas (Oklahoma commit)
- No. 20 4-star CB Erick Young, Richmond, Texas
The Sooners, who hosted a junior day in January, have been planning this one for a while, using Oklahoma’s basketball game against Texas as a lure.
There will be more updates as Saturday draws closer. But right now it looks like the biggest event of the week for elite 2019 Texas prep recruits.
4-star California linebacker Jonathan Perkins coming to junior day
Oklahoma will get an unofficial visit from 4-star linebacker Jonathan Perkins this weekend. The No. 291 player in the 2019 class picked up an offer from the Sooners in October.
The Sooners’ coaching staff had plenty of time to evaluate Perkins. He was a teammate of 2018 defensive end target Jeremiah Martin at Cajon High School in San Bernadino, Calif. Martin picked Texas A&M over Oklahoma on National Signing Day.
Check out Brey Walker’s hops
Former Oklahoma fullback J.D. Runnels runs a strength and conditioning center in Choctaw, Okla. One of his pupils is 5-star offensive tackle and Oklahoma signee Brey Walker.
Wednesday afternoon Runnels sent out a video of what the Sooners are getting in June.
