Oklahoma commit Spencer Rattler is the top-ranked quarterback in ESPN’s new recruiting rankings for the Class of 2019.
ESPN released its new Junior 300 on Monday, and Rattler was No. 1 among quarterbacks. The 4-star prospect is the No. 17 overall prospect in the country, according to ESPN, and he’s the highest-ranked player in Arizona.
The Phoenix Pinncale quarterback committed to Oklahoma in June over offers from Alabama, Notre Dame, Texas and Texas A&M. He’s one of the Sooners’ three commits for the 2019 class. Oklahoma currently has the No. 1 recruiting class in the Big 12 and the No. 10 class nationally for 2019.
New Sooners coach Lincoln Riley has been pursuing Rattler for a while. He offered Rattler as a 14-year-old recruit in April 2016. The Sooners have grabbed 10 new commitments across three classes since Riley took over as coach following Bob Stoops’ retirement.
Rattler had 2,893 passing yards with 29 touchdowns and 10 interceptions last season, according to MaxPreps. He ran for 462 yards and 5 touchdowns.
