If you’re looking for evidence as to how influential Bob Stoops was as coach of the Oklahoma Sooners, look no further than Twitter.
That’s where you’ll find former player after former player tweeting about how excited they are to return to Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium for the Oklahoma spring game. There, legendary longtime coach Bob Stoops will be honored with a statue that’s been years in the making.
It seems that plenty of Stoops’ former players are making the trek back to Norman, Okla., in order to celebrate their former coach. They’ve taken to Twitter using the hashtag #SaluteToStoops to hype their visits.

Look at the language these former Sooners are using. “Thrilled to be home this weekend to honor you.” “Nothing but love for my coach.” “It was a dream come true to play at OU for Coach Stoops.” “Excited to honor a legend this weekend.”
It’s clear Stoops’ impact went far beyond the 190 wins he racked up as head coach of Oklahoma. He made an impact on every player he coached, and the ceremony during the spring game should be as emotional as it is entertaining.
The Sooners’ spring game is Saturday, April 14, and starts at 1:15 p.m. CT.
