The Salute to Stoops event, held in honor of legendary Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops, has come and gone. With it, came some truly amazing moments, some of them downright hilarious. Here are the best things that happened at the tribute to the former Sooner great.
- Bob Stoops still isn’t getting into coaching, but he did have some offers. Steve Spurrier is coaching in a new league, and he reportedly offered Stoops a job as a defensive coordinator on his new staff. While it would’ve been a longshot, there’s no telling what would’ve happened with two of the most famous visors in college football on the same sideline.
- Mike Gundy stole the show a bit with his shirtless antics. Gundy showed Stoops exactly what’s waiting for him if he takes him up on his offer of rattlesnake hunting or swimming in Florida. Gundy is the perfect outdoorsman, and while there’s no doubt it would be fun, rattlesnake hunting is a bit extreme.
- Toby Keith is here? The Oklahoma native showed up and made sure that Stoops didn’t leave without a concert. He certainly was saluted by the country music star.
- The unveiling of the statue. The real reason everyone was there became apparent quickly. Oklahoma unveiled their statue of Stoops, and the night was immortalized.
