The city of Atlanta embraced Trae Young on Tuesday.
The former Oklahoma point guard had the honors of throwing the first pitch at an Atlanta Braves game.
It went fairly well considering how poorly these things go at times.
🤔 The closest-range shot @TheTraeYoung has ever taken? 🤔@ATLHawks first-round pick & @OU_MBBall product delivers first pitch at @SunTrustPark … and he stuck around to take in @Braves vs. Reds with some friends.#Braves | #ChopOn | #TrueToAtlanta pic.twitter.com/gLUE478SOU

Young, who went fifth overall in the 2018 NBA Draft, also received a custom Atlanta Braves jersey.
He’ll join a rebuilding Atlanta Hawks team next season and should be one of the focal points of their lineup.
Battle of the first pitches
The former Sooners sharpshooter isn’t the first high draft pick to throw out the first pitch at a Major League Baseball game this year.
Former Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield threw out the first pitch at a Cleveland Indians game in April after he was taken first overall by the Cleveland Browns in the 2018 NFL Draft.
Decide for yourself who did better among the two top-5 Oklahoma draft picks.
Who had the better first pitch: Baker Mayfield (left) or Trae Young (right)? 😂🤔 pic.twitter.com/ZT1G4dCbBG

Mayfield and Young weren’t terrible. But they weren’t quite as impressive as former Oklahoma pitcher Paige Parker, who threw out the first pitch at a Kansas City Royals game in 2017.
