Oregon officially dismissed receiver Darren Carrington on Friday, less than two weeks after he was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants.
First-year head coach Willie Taggart released a statement about Carrington’s dismissal:
“I have visited with Darren Carrington and informed him that he is no longer a member of our program. We will always consider Darren a Duck and support him in any way we can. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”
Carrington was originally suspended indefinitely and wasn’t allowed to perform in team activities while the team gathered facts.
The 6-foot-2 redshirt senior was heading into his final season with UO. Carrington led Oregon in receiving yards in 2016 with 606 on 43 receptions. In 2015, Carrington was named second-team All-Pac-12.
