Sports Illustrated released a list of the top-100 college football players heading into the 2018 season, and Oregon defensive lineman Jalen Jelks made the list, coming in at No. 89.
Jelks, a senior, had a breakout year in 2o17. The 6-foot-6, 246-pound lineman was one of the most disruptive defenders in the conference last season and was named second-team All-Pac-12. He registered 15 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks in 2017 and could be a big-time NFL draft prospect if he ups his game once again in 2018.
Here is what Sports Illustrated’s Eric Single wrote about Jelks:
Quarterback Justin Herbert won’t be the only Duck drawing NFL decision-makers to Eugene this fall. Oregon’s leader in sacks and tackles for loss a year ago, Jelks is lanky and lightning-quick off the edge, which makes the Leonard Floyd comps come easy and gives Jim Leavitt a powerful weapon to deploy on the Pac-12’s best passers.
