It may be early, but Oregon and head coach Willie Taggart are hot on the recruiting trail. Very hot.
According to Scout.com, the Ducks currently have the No. 1 ranked 2018 recruiting class in the nation. While the ranking is influenced by the fact that the Ducks have 21 commitments so far, most among any team in the top 50 of the rankings, that shouldn’t discount how special of a class this could be.
The Ducks have never finished with a consensus top-10 recruiting class, even as they’ve enjoyed two national championship trips since 2010.
The Ducks have 12 four-star commitments, including safeties Steve Stephens and Jevon Hollan, receivers Warren Thompson and Miles Battle, cornerback Isaiah Bolden and athletes Braden Lenzy and Tre’Shaun Harrison.

Taggart, in his first year as head coach of the Ducks, has brought in some of the nations most prized recruiters. Co-offensive coordinators Mario Cristobal, formerly of Alabama, and Marcus Arroyo, have been stars on the recruiting trail for the Ducks.
As for why Taggart thinks the Ducks are having so much success on the recruiting trail, he just thinks Eugene is a special place to be.
“We just think we have something really good going on here,” Taggart said in May, per The Oregonian. “There’s nothing here at the University of Oregon that these kids can’t have. They have everything they need to be successful.”
Whether or not the success on the recruiting trail will help the Ducks on the field has yet to be seen. But thus far, Taggart has certainly made it clear that Oregon is back and back in a big way.
