Mario Cristobal has an excellent chance of making a great first impression in his first year in Eugene. The Oregon Ducks have the weakest strength schedule among Power 5 teams, according to ESPN’s Football Power Index.
Oregon opens its season with three consecutive home games against non-Power 5 teams: Bowling Green, Portland State and San Jose State.
The Ducks have a relatively easy conference schedule that includes home games against Stanford, Washington and UCLA. The Ducks will not play USC this season and the program’s toughest road games will likely be against Arizona and Utah.
Interestingly enough, Oregon’s former coach Chip Kelly and his UCLA Bruins have the highest strength of schedule among Power 5 teams according to the Football Power Index.
ESPN’s FPI projects Oregon to go 8-4 and the program has a 3.8 percent chance of capturing the conference title and .1 percent chance to go undefeated.
