One of the West Coast’s top prospects released his top-8 schools on Monday night and half of them are from the Pac-12.
Four-star linebacker Daniel Heimuli (Menlo Park, Calif.) included Washington, UCLA, Oregon and Utah in his group of eight finalists, notably leaving out USC. 247Sports’ Crystal Ball prediction had Heimuli set to go to USC before his announcement, which he made to 247Sports’ Brandon Huffman.
Heimuli, the No. 12 inside linebacker in the 2019 class and No. 43 recruit in California, provided a sentence or two of explanation for each of his chosen schools, reported by Huffman.
- Washington: “Coach [Bob] Gregory has built a great relationship with my family and I. Washington felt like a true home when I was there on a visit.”
- UCLA: “At UCLA, I feel like I can make a name for myself there and the academics there are amazing.”
- Oregon: “I have built a great relationship with the Oregon coaching staff and as I visited, I could feel the home presence around campus.”
- Utah: “Coach [Justin] Ena has done a great job there and I feel like I could fit into their scheme perfectly.”
Heimuli included Alabama, TCU, Mississippi and Nebraska to round out his top 8. He has 24 offers nationwide and eliminated six other Pac-12 schools in narrowing down his list: Washington State, Oregon State, USC, Colorado, Arizona and Arizona State.
