Pitt basketball has bolstered its backcourt with the addition of guard Monty Boykins, a grad transfer from Lafayette.
“Monty is an experienced guard with a high basketball IQ and a very good shooting touch from the perimeter,” Pitt coach Kevin Stallings said in a prepared statement. “We are excited to add a veteran player who can play multiple positions and make an immediate impact on the court and in the locker room.”
Boykins averaged 10.7 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game as a junior, shooting better than 35 percent from 3-point range. His senior season came to an end last November in the first game of the season, when he suffered a shoulder injury against Villanova.
Boykins graduated from Lafayette, in Easton, Pa., in June and is immediately eligible for the 2017-18 season.
