Stanford coach David Shaw is widely recognized as one of the best coaches in college football. CBS Sports shares those feelings.
CBS Sports released their college football coach rankings on Wednesday. Shaw is ranked as the seventh best coach in college football. He is the second highest ranked Pac-12 coach, just two spots behind Washington coach Chris Petersen.
Here’s what CBS Sports’ Tom Fornelli had to say about the Stanford coach:
“He remains in the top 10 this year, climbing a spot, but I believe he should be even higher. Harbaugh gets credit for rebuilding Stanford, but Shaw has not only maintained the program, but improved it. Even in a “down” year, the Cardinal managed to go 7-2 in the Pac-12 last season.”
Shaw has accumulated a 73-22 record in seven seasons with the Cardinal.
Stanford is projected to have another strong team this year, especially with the return of running back Bryce Love. Washington and Stanford are the two highest ranked football teams in most way-too-early top 25 rankings for the 2018 season. It’s not a coincidence that Petersen and Shaw are regarded as the best coaches in the conference.
