Jack Richardson awarded walk-on scholarship to Stanford
The Stanford spring game was held Saturday, and as spring games go, not a whole lot could be gleaned from it, though there was at least one individual who came away far better.
His name is Jack Richardson. Unless you are a fan of Salinas (Calif.) High School, Richardson’s alma mater, you probably haven’t heard of him. He has never thrown a college pass, though he has been on Stanford’s roster as a walk-on for the past two seasons.
On Saturday, he earned scholarship status.

Though he hasn’t thrown a pass yet, there is no doubt that Richardson can throw them. He left Salinas as the career record-holder in yards thrown (4,300) and touchdowns (39), the same records he owns for the single-season marks as well (2,353 yards, 20 touchdowns).
Whether he will see the field on The Farm is yet to be determined, though it’s impossible not to get swept up in a feel-good moment at a spring football game.
